Peace Beyond Understanding
"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will
have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon", Isaiah 55:7.
Many people, including life long Christians, find it very difficult to approach God. They feel that they must straighten
out and start living right before God will here them. Nothing could be farther from the truth, except maybe for those on
the other side that insist that because we are saved without the works of the law, we are free to live as we please. After
all, we are saved by grace. The Bible does say that no one will be saved by the righteousness of the law but lets be realistic
here. Would Heaven be any different from planet Earth if everyone there spent their leisure time getting drunk and cheating
on their spouse. What about if God allowed a murderer to be saved who is only sorry for killing his ex-girlfriend because he
is in jail. So tell me please, where is the balance between these opposing positions?
Some of these things may sound harsh, but we need to be realistic. One thing we don't need is a lot of sugar coated stories
about how everyone is going to Heaven if they just do this or that. Even worse, those who are not saved will be given another
chance in their after life. There are many people who sincerely believe these things, people of many religious backgrounds
who will be saved. I am not talking about those who the Bible says hear God's voice and listen, even though they do not know
the gospel or believe in the Bible. I am referring to those who constantly violate their conscience and stubbornly continue
in rebellion against God, cutting down those who are striving to live holy lives, criticizing what they do not understand,
and living in outright sin.
Sadly, many people will realize all to late that Christ was trying to reach out to them, but they would not respond to
His invitation. Praise God, you and I do not have to be a part of those who wake up to late. Oh no! So where is the
balance?
Let's take a look at what the Bible says to those who struggle to believe that God accepts them. The Bible says, "Let
the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy
upon him, and to our God, and He will abundantly pardon". This verse is God's invitation for all who are thirsting for
the meaning to life and peace beyond understanding. It also reveals to us to a balanced view of salvation. True repentance
will lead us to a fight against evil tendencies and bad habits. And true repentance is the fruit of a personal relationship
with God and a correct understanding of what Jesus did for us at Calvary. If we understand the importance of what Christ
did for us, then our response will be obedience to His commandments. This is why Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my
commandments".
If you are looking for peace, God is the only source of true Peace. I challenge you to surrender your life to Him and to
accept His invitation to you. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
